This series documents the Department of Education's work with schoolchildren and teachers both within the Museum setting and as outreach programs in the Houston area school districts. The papers include correspondence; contact and mailing lists; proposals; grants; contracts; publicity materials; financial documents; and program brochures. School programs include tours; lectures; demonstrations; art courses; teachers' and children's workshops; teachers' portfolios and slide sets; teacher in-services; and student internships. All ongoing school programs, such as Evenings for Educators, are documented in this series, regardless of whether or not the programs or events are related to an exhibition. In contrast, one-time programs or events held in conjunction with an exhibition are documented in Series 2, Exhibition Files.
